![]() Brinkthegame.com Fall 2010. Quote: A new game is on the horizon for gamers; a game that hopes to bring together the best of hit games from different genres. A game that is possibly a shining beacon of hope in the sea of generic games. A game known as Brink. >.< Well, that was corny as fuck. Okay, basically, it's what would result if Killzone 2, Borderlands, and Mirror's Edge had a threesome. Which would probably be disturbing to think about too hard, but if this game is all that it's promising to be, you probably won't have any intention to think of anything besides Brink. It's set in a not too distant, post-apocalyptic future, with a 'man-made utopia gone wrong' scenario. It features an integrated campaign/multiplayer, similar to that of Borderlands (with a jump in anytime system as well, I think), but with up to 8 player co-op. There are also classes to be chosen, like in Borderlands, except there are stations scattered throughout the maps which can be utilized for quick class changes, as well as weapon loadout changes. The game also features S.M.A.R.T (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain), which is very Mirror's Edge-like. It's not a single action reserved for a single button, but an intuitive system that changes to the players need. Apparently, it's a button you press to engage S.M.A.R.T, and, depending on your movements, the game will smoothly predict what you wish to do, and do it; be it sliding past doors, vaulting over obstacles, running up walls, etc. And the third big gameplay innovation included is the option of multiple mission objectives in every game. No longer is it a choice between 'team deathmatch' or 'capture the flag'. In every game, you can choose to either kill as many enemies as you want, to open up a shortcut for your team, to repair something to help your team get farther, interrogate an enemy, and much more. There's an objective menu wheel, and after selecting what you wish to do, an objective marker will appear at the top of the screen to help you accomplish it. Each objective is worth it's own amount of experience. There are also unlockables and character customizations that you can use in game. I can't say for sure yet, but it's looking to be a great game, with a cool storyline, immersive gameplay, and just all-around awesome. Thoughts? Comments? I, personally, am in love. |

This looks amazing, but I'm worried they're focusing too much time on that SMART thing and not gameplay. Either way it looks beautiful. Kinda reminds me of Borderlands and Team Fortress a bit. |

Well, a major selling point is that it's made by Bethesda... Yes, that's the people behind Fallout. But there is still a year till release, so of course, more stuff will be released when the time comes. |

OMG Bethesda. They are so awesome at game making, even though i never got into Fallout. So this is why there is not Elder Scrolls 5. They are working on this. |
